It's been a most unproductive painting season! My inspiration and motivation have wained and I feel like the horse, Graham, looks.

Monday, 8 March, was our first day to paint out of doors as a group since Huber Woods in November. It was great to see the turnout and what a great site at which to work. The Sunnyside Recreation Center is a world class equestrian facility designed and utilized for the training of disabled children and adults. The weather was fair in the low sixties and it held through Wednesday. Photos to follow. I recieved photos from a kind friend Milissa, in Hilo, Hawaii, and I thought it appropriate to share them here. Enjoy and dream.

The weather has certainly put a stop to any Plein Air painting, so it's time to fall back on the old camera. I couldn't pass up this expression of shared friendship.

Wow,what a day!

Greetings!

The day was really too cold for me to be out painting, but I just had to get out. I wanted something fresh, simple, yet full of December. I thought perhaps a Christmas Card. Early in the morning I worked with mittens and a pencil. Once my water thawed I used medium to bond the surface. I find that burnishing the surface helps make a better bond. I'm thankful for a beautiful day and a good first sitting.

To have a day this mild in December is a gift not to be squandered. I returned to Huber Woods knowing that the grey day is what I want to finish this piece. Sometimes, we spend longer on a piece than what we expect, but the understanding gained by exploration opens the door to further works with greater clairity.

The day started out gray but by noon the sun was in and out...time to pack it in, but what fun!

I'm hoping for one more sitting. Maybe Thursday morning.

Greetings!

With November weather this mild it would be a crime not to return to start another. Huber Woods has many beautiful motifs and it will take some time before I feel the need to seek out a new location.

Once again I submit the first sitting. My objective is to block in shapes of colors while manipulating composition and value changes.

Today's weather is colder and it is gray. I'm not sure if I begin another or work on what I've started...we'll see.

Today was the 3rd Monday that I painted up at Huber Woods.The Plein Air Painters were scheduled to begin anew at LongSteeet Farm, but I didn't feel I had resolved my work up here. Mimi and Cathy also returned. It was good to exchange ideas and observations.

I've attached a couple of pixs of the "Van-GO-Easel". While it has considerable weight, it's distributed in such a way that you never deal with the weight directly.

It was another great day!

Greetings!

This week I had the pleasure of meeting the PAPJC members at Huber Woods Environmental Center. Monday was grey and ify but the color was fantastic. I went against my own dictum and I used the grey, first day version to chase the following blue day. To compound matters, I painted on the backside of an earlier painting, thus loosing two previous works. Live and learn.

Oh, but what fun! Nature carried on in a riot of colors. Thanks members for sharing the vista.
